Description

2018 Incoming FALL Semester Students (Register here ONLY if your start term is Fall 2018)

Orientation is offered as a one day session (8:30am-1:30pm). You are to select one date from the following options:

  • Session 1 - Wednesday, June 27, 2018
  • Session 2 - Tuesday, July 17, 2018
  • Session 3 - Thursday, July 26, 2018
  • Session 4 - Wednesday, August 8, 2018
  • Session 5 - Thursday, August 16, 2018

Orientation is a required program for incoming Freshmen and Transfer students (optional for parents) that helps students get ready for the start of school. At orientation, we will cover the topics that will help you prepare for and successfully navigate your first year at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University. Readmitted, continuing students who have already taken classes at Franciscan University / Our Lady of the Lake College, or non-matriculating students are not required to attend any of these orientation sessions. Students taking only online classes are not required to attend.

Orientation is required to provide all new students with information about being a successful college student at the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University. You will learn specifics about the University’s academic requirements and all the campus resources available to you. If you have not already registered for classes you will do so at the conclusion of orientation. If you have registered and need to make any class schedule changes such as adding a class or changing a section, you will be able to do this at the conclusion of the session.

Parents are not required to attend, but we strongly encourage parents, guardians, significant others and/or other family members to attend. So much information is new and sometimes confusing; it really helps to have at least two sets of ears.

What to bring? How to prepare?

  • All necessary materials you will need for the day will be provided.
  • Dress for orientation is casual and comfortable. We suggest you bring a light sweater in case the room temperature becomes cool. An optional student guided walking tour will be available, so wear comfortable shoes if you'd like to take a walk around and learn the layout of your campus.
  • While on campus you may obtain your student ID.
  • In order to secure your parking tag, you will need your current drivers license and your license plate number.
  • Lunch will be provided (email lynn.savoie@franu.edu if you have any special food requirements)

Orientation is conducted in the Biological Learning Research Building located at 5222 Brittany Dr., Suite B, Baton Rouge, LA 70808
